MEMS scanner technology, in conjunction with laser systems, is finding multiple applications in automotive safety (LIDAR), medical imaging or free-space optical communications, among others.

Most challenging applications require angle scanning resolutions down to few millidegrees. Optical feedback systems are aimed to achieve highest resolution when used as MEMS angle closed-loop control schemes, canceling thermal drift or other error sources.
